Job summary

UT Health East Texas in Pittsburg, TX is seeking a PRN Medical Lab Technician to support our clinical laboratory and patient care services.

You will perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventive maintenance, inventory control, and participate in quality assurance and proficiency testing as assigned.

The position requires an associate degree in medical laboratory science and ASCP or equivalent certification, with at least 5 years of clinical lab experience.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or related sciences.
• ASCP or equivalent certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
• If certification lapses, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until reinstated.

Responsibilities

• The MLT performs routine and special laboratory procedures and quality control.
• Maintenance, inventory control and statistical compilation as needed.
• Participates in quality assurance, proficiency testing and staff training.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participate in the quality assurance and performance improvement tasks, new employee training, and proficiency testing as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree.
• ASCP or equivalent.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment
  • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
• 5+ years’ of clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
