Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, IA is seeking a Medical Lab Technician / Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) for weekend package overnights, with double-time compensation and a requirement of 11 out of 12 weekends.

You will work cross-functionally across benches performing analyses and phlebotomy, ensuring QA and compliance.

Qualifications include MLT/MLS degree, BLS, and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Science/MLT or Bachelor’s degree in MLS/MT.
• BLS and Mandatory Reporter certifications either obtained or within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to work weekend nights and commit to 11 of 12 weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain technical competency and operate benches in Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and PCR analysis.
• Perform phlebotomy (venipunctures and capillary collections) on all patient age groups, from neonatal to geriatric populations.
• Monitor QA data and maintain testing precision within parameters.
• Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and hospital safety regulations.
• Be trained in DOT Urine Drug screen collections as well as Breath Alcohol.

Job Title: Medical Lab Technician / Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) Weekend Package-Nights
Location: Clarion, IA
Employment Type: Baylor Package Overnights (Friday/Saturday) This position is compensated at double time, and requires a commitment of 11 out of 12 weekends.

Position Overview

Join our family-oriented, patient-focused team. In a critical access hospital environment, our MLTs work cross-functionally across all benches to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses on patient specimens, directly aiding providers in emergency, inpatient, Obstetrics’ and surgical settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain technical competency and independently operate benches in Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and PCR analysis.


• Perform phlebotomy (venipunctures and capillary collections) on all patient age groups, from neonatal to geriatric populations.


• Monitor, evaluate, and act upon Quality Assurance (QA) data within parameters to maintain testing precision.


• Adhere strictly to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and hospital safety regulations.


• Be trained in DOT Urine Drug screen collections as well as Breath Alcohol.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in Science/MLT (for MLT tier) or Bachelor’s degree (for MLS/MT tier).


• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Mandatory Reporter certifications (or obtained within 6 months of hire).


• Must possess strong independent decision-making skills while operating solo on shift.
