Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform assigned laboratory testing and manage priorities across multiple procedures. You will resolve discrepancies in results, maintain up-to-date SOP knowledge, and contribute to SOPs, training documents, and validation plans.

Strong communication with the department and lab teams is essential. Career ladder opportunities exist; internal and external candidates must meet pathway requirements.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of clinical experience required.
  • ASCP BOC certification or equivalent required.

Job Description Summary Responsible for performing laboratory testing assigned to the department. Recognize unusual test results and resolve discrepancies. Ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously including troubleshooting instruments and other problems/issues. Maintain knowledge of all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to work effectively. Develop, draft, revise SOPs, training documents, validation/verification plans, test cases, and validation/verification summaries. Maintain excellent communication with the Department and other Laboratory Services personnel.
