Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Lab Assistant to support diagnostic testing by collecting, preparing, and processing patient specimens using advanced technology. You will handle labeling, centrifugation, and aliquoting while maintaining strict accuracy and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • California Phlebotomy Technician License (CA PHLEB Lic) is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS) is required.
  • Fire Safety Card required (must obtain 90 days from hire date).

Responsibilities

  • Collect, prepare, and process patient specimens for diagnostic tests.
  • Assist with specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies for cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Perform routine tasks such as washing glassware, sterilizing instruments, and preparing culture media.
  • Assist with data entry and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the laboratory supervisor with assigned tasks.

As our Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, bringing us one step closer to effectively treating patient illnesses and injuries.

Every day, you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a foundational understanding of laboratory procedures, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and maintain an eager commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

  • The lab assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care relative to the patient's age-specific needs.
  • Assist with specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Perform routine lab tasks such as washing glassware, sterilizing instruments, and preparing culture media.
  • Assist with data entry and record-keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the laboratory supervisor.
