Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our clinical laboratory team. The MLT will perform tests on blood, urine and other body fluids, ensuring accurate results to support patient diagnosis and care.

The role emphasizes quality control, adherence to procedures, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Qualified candidates have an associate degree, NCCLS-accredited program graduate, and hospital laboratory experience is preferred.

• Hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle specimen processing and preanalytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity.
• Perform various laboratory tests on patient specimens, evaluate results, and report in the Laboratory Information System.
• Perform and evaluate periodic quality control per policy and procedure.
• Evaluate new or modified procedures, reagents and instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
• Troubleshoot all instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
• Participates in hospital initiatives and department goals set by Laboratory Director and Manager.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) utilizes skills and training to perform test of samples of blood, urine and other body fluids to obtain information utilized in diagnosis and evaluation of patient medical status. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the facility.

What You Will Do In This Role

• You will handle specimen processing, preanalytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity.
• You will perform various types of laboratory test(s) on patient specimens, evaluates test results, and report/enter/verify test results in Laboratory Information System.
• You will perform and evaluates periodic quality control per policy and procedure.
• You will evaluate new and/or modified procedures, reagents and instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
• Troubleshoots all instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
• Participates in hospital initiatives and in department goals set by the Laboratory Director and Manager

What Qualifications You Will Need

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation.
