Job summary

Willapa Harbor Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Laboratory professional to plan, perform, evaluate and report CLIA-waived, moderately complex and high-complexity testing. You will lead day-to-day MLT/MLS operations, perform QC/QA, maintain instruments and communicate with health care providers.

Qualifications include an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), MLT/MLS certification and at least 3 years of generalist hospital experience with blood banking and phlebotomy; MA-P phlebotomy

Qualifications

• Minimum of an associate's degree; bachelor’s preferred with training to include the completion of a certified MLT/MLS program.
• MLT/MLS certification by ASCP, AMT, AABB or equivalent organization required.
• Minimum of 3 years Generalist experience in a hospital laboratory including Blood Banking and phlebotomy preferred.
• Must be able to work independently. MA-P phlebotomy license required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, evaluate, process and prepare specimens for testing; interpret provider orders; communicate with providers and patient care personnel concerning testing and orders.
• Pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical function; leading the day to day work of technicians, and other personnel; performing quality control and quality assurance.
• Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting; monitoring supply inventory; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with health care providers, patients, other hospital personnel.
• Responsibility for coordinating assigned testing activity with other laboratory personnel; selecting and running appropriate standards and quality control material; operating the analytical equipment according to established protocols; performing testing, and producing accurate and timely results; demonstrating technical knowledge about procedures performed; applying learned skills in problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Laboratory Director, Manager, Chief Tech, Medical or Administrative Directors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Full Time Night Shift Monday-Thursday 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM, with holidays, and call- Shift/days may change

Pay

• BOE, according to the union contract
• MLT wage range $33.90- $53.76
• Medical laboratory Scientist wage range $38.31- $66.35
