- Hillcrest Medical Center is a 656-bed hospital that includes The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, the latest technology for cancer treatment, and the Oklahoma Heart Institute.
Responsibilities
- The Medical Lab Scientist functions as a professional responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing related to patient care and diagnosis.
- This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
- Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related biological, chemical, or physical science.
- ASCP or equivalent certification.
- Certification within a specific area (e.g., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)) qualifies and must be maintained without lapse during employment.
- If certification lapses, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical setting.
- Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
