Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Tech (ACSP or HEW certified) for night shift (7pm-7am) in Massachusetts. You will perform tests, quality control, and instrument maintenance while rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications include an ASCP MLT license, an associate degree in MLT or two-year program, and at least six months in a lab. Strong computer skills and familiarity with analyzers are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training students and new staff.
• Operate computer systems handling patient data and QC.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Keep work areas clean and safe.
• Attend laboratory meetings and training sessions.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas. Departmentalized technicians will have increased technical responsibility in areas of specialization.
• Assess and report acceptable results. Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability. Notify supervisor of problems.
• Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Notify supervisor of operational difficulties.
• Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control.
• Perform phlebotomies as requested.
• Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner.
• Attend laboratory meetings.
• Attend in service education meetings and educational seminars as requested and other duties as needed.

Education/Experience Required

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50-100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range:

$27.65 - $49.45

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms ofthe applicable collective bargainingagreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
