Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Medical Lab Tech at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA. This per diem position offers flexible shifts from 7:00am - 3:30pm or 3:00pm - 11:30pm, supporting a high-quality community hospital lab.

Under general supervision, you will perform routine lab analyses, prepare specimens, and ensure accurate reporting. Required: Associate Degree in MLS; ASCP or equivalent certification within 2 years; vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science required.
• One year of experience in multiple laboratory disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank preferred.
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the ASCP, or equivalent certification is required within two years from date of hire and if applicable maintain certification through ASCP or comparable approved agency.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Responsibilities

• Perform all routine laboratory analysis with accuracy and precision and according to written procedures.
• Identify all critical or unexpected results and verify results according to established procedures.
• Notify Supervisor or Clinical Specialist as appropriate.
• Prepare samples for analysis. Draw correct specimen and volume. Assign accession numbers. Maintain workstation in a neat and orderly fashion.

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
