Vitruvian Medical Center in Cleveland, TN seeks a clinical laboratory technologist to perform a wide range of complex tests and procedures. The role includes maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment and guiding others in the work setting.
The candidate should have an AS/ASL in Medical Laboratory Technology or a BS in MLS/Natural Science, and MT/MLS ASCP certification (or equivalent with 12 months to obtain). Two years of clinical lab experience is preferred.
Performs a wide variety of complex clinical laboratory tests and procedures according to established standards; maintains and calibrates highly scientific equipment; provides direction to others in work setting and ensures compliance with all applicable standards established by regulatory agencies. Provides teaching and in-services to students and other personnel. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of age dependent expected values and access data reflective of the patients' current status in relation to their age specific needs.
Education: A.S or A.A.S degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required or a B.S degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Natural Science preferred.
Licensure: Certified MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent. Certified MLT ASCP or equivalent accepted but must obtain certification as a MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent within 12 months. HEW Technologist certification is acceptable. Must maintain certification throughout employment of Vitruvian Medical Center. Must meet Tennessee State Laws of licensure of clinical laboratories.
Experience: Two years' experience as an MT/MLS or MLT in a clinical laboratory with experience in sections with assigned responsibility.
Skills:
Exhibits good managerial and interpersonal skills. Visual acuity, mathematical skills, problem solving skills and color discrimination ability. Ability to distinguish sound in low to high range to assure proper operation of clinical equipment. Ability to communicate with other healthcare providers by telephone to obtain or give information critical to patient care. Good communication skills.
Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients' needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patients served. Demonstrates consistent ability to perform clinical skills necessary in the care and treatment of a variety of ages in patients, particularly focusing on the neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
