Job summary

Vitruvian Health is seeking a skilled clinical laboratory professional to perform complex tests, calibrate equipment, and provide teaching to students and staff. The role requires adherence to regulatory standards and age-appropriate data interpretation across neonate to geriatric patients.

The candidate should have a strong background in Medical Laboratory Technology with MT/MLS certification, plus relevant clinical laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• Education: A.S or A.A.S in Medical Laboratory Technology required or a B.S in Medical Laboratory Science or Natural Science preferred.
• Licensure: Certified MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent; must obtain certification within 12 months; HEW Technologist acceptable.
• Experience: Two years’ MT/MLS/MLT experience in a clinical laboratory in relevant sections.
• Skills: Strong managerial and interpersonal skills; good vision, color discrimination, and problem solving abilities.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs a wide variety of complex clinical laboratory tests and procedures according to established standards; maintains and calibrates highly scientific equipment; provides direction to others in work setting and ensures compliance with all applicable standards established by regulatory agencies. Provides teaching and in‑services to students and other personnel. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of age dependent expected values and access data reflective of the patients' current status in relation to their age specific needs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: A.S or A.A.S degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required or a B.S degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Natural Science preferred.
• Licensure: Certified MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent. Certified MLT ASCP or equivalent accepted but must obtain certification as a MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent within 12 months. HEW Technologist certification is acceptable. Must maintain certification throughout employment of Vitruvian Medical Center. Must meet Tennessee State Laws of licensure of clinical laboratories.
• Experience: Two years’ experience as an MT/MLS or MLT in a clinical laboratory with experience in sections with assigned responsibility.
• Skills: Exhibits good managerial and interpersonal skills. Visual acuity, mathematical skills, problem solving skills and color discrimination ability. Ability to distinguish sound in low to high range to assure proper operation of clinical equipment. Ability to communicate with other healthcare providers by telephone to obtain or give information critical to patient care. Good communication skills. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients' needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patients served. Demonstrates consistent ability to perform clinical skills necessary in the care and treatment of a variety of ages in patients, particularly focusing on the neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
