Job description

Seeking Clinical/Medical Lab Scientists and Medical Lab Technicians for our Loveland, CO location at Banner McKee Medical Center for per diem positions. Must have hands-on experience working in a clinical laboratory setting. We have Medical Lab Technician (MLT) and Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) roles available. MLT positions range from $24.83 to $33.87 and MLS is $28.88 to $43.32/hour depending on experience.

Position Summary - Medical Lab Technician (MLT)

This position performs waived and non-waived tests as defined by CLIA ‘88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision. Assists with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA ’88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA). May be responsible for the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens into the laboratory.

Core Functions
  • Performs testing accurately and timely, responsible for startup, calibration, and accuracy of procedures and instrumentation. Exercises independent judgment, demonstrates comprehension of testing theory and relevance, and shows problem-solving skills.
  • Ensures validity of abnormal results, participates in quality control, and promotes department standards for productivity and quality.
  • Manages supplies, assists with inventory, and looks for financial and operational improvements.
  • Self-directed, participates in training, and provides guidance in supervisor’s absence.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers, promotes teamwork, and participates in staff meetings.
  • May process and prepare patient samples, ensuring correct identification and specimen integrity.
Minimum Qualifications - MLT
  • Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science, or
  • Equivalent training/experience per CLIA regulations, or
  • Other criteria per 42CFR regulations.

Foreign candidates must provide credential evaluation and translated diploma. Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications (MLT)
  • MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB)
  • Knowledge of specimen requirements, medical terminology, and experience with phlebotomy.
Position Summary - Medical Lab Scientist (MLS)

This role requires advanced technical knowledge, problem-solving, and leadership in the department. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards, participates in quality assurance, and may lead training and projects.

Minimum Qualifications - MLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science/technology or related field, with certification (MLS or categorical), or
  • Bachelor’s degree plus certification, or
  • Experience in specialty disciplines where no certification exists.

Foreign candidates must provide credential evaluation. Experience in phlebotomy is required where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications - MLS
  • MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB)
  • Knowledge of specimen requirements and medical terminology
  • Experience with phlebotomy and processing
