Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to analyze biological specimens, operate instruments, and integrate patient data for accurate test results. You will ensure adherence to quality control and assurance programs to support high-quality patient care.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree, registry eligibility for new grads, and certification within 18 months. Certification by ASCP or NCA or NAACLS-eligible is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• New graduates (90 days post grad) must be registry eligible and certify within 18 months; special exemption applies for Grady Health System grads.
• Must be certified as Medical Technologist by ASCP or NCA or NAACLS-eligible.

Responsibilities

• Follows SOPs for collecting, processing, and analyzing specimens for routine and complex tests.
• Integrates clinical and lab data to resolve discrepancies; verifies results in LIS.
• Executes, validates, and documents quality control procedures to maintain accuracy.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and instruments; troubleshoots problems.
• Teaches procedures to students and staff in training; participates in continuing education.
• Contributes to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
• Provides information to customers about specimen status, requirements, and test results.
