Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• New graduates (90 days post grad) must be registry eligible and obtain certification within 18 months of employment; this exemption applies only if Grady is their first job post-graduation.

Responsibilities

• Follows standard operating procedures for collecting, accepting samples, processing and analyzing specimens for routine and complex tests.
• Integrates clinical and laboratory data to make decisions and verifies results in the laboratory information system.
• Monitors workload to ensure timely completion for high priority samples.
• Performs quality control procedures, and takes corrective actions to maintain accuracy of testing system.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and instruments and detects problems.
• Participates in continuing education and teaches laboratory procedures to students and staff in training.
• Contributes to continuous quality improvement standards for the department.
• Provides information to customers about specimen status, collection requirements, and test orders.
