Job summary

West Valley Medical Center, part of the HCA Healthcare network in Caldwell, Idaho, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high-functioning laboratory team. You will handle specimen receipt, run tests, and report critical values with accuracy and professionalism.

The role requires a MT/MLS/MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) and a BS in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology. BLS/BCLS certification is also expected; hospital lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Technology program or related BS with certification.
• Certification as MT/MLS/MLT by ASCP or equivalent required within 1 year of hire.
• 1 year hospital or clinical lab experience preferred; new grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Receive blood specimens and perform blood tests; study blood morphology.
• Perform routine and special lab tests using automated and manual methods.
• Maintain and operate chemistry analyzers and other lab instruments.
• Conduct antibody screening, identification and cross-matching for transfusions.
• Notify nursing/physicians of critical lab values promptly.
• Implement new testing methods and instrumentation as needed.
