Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist to join the on-site laboratory team in Texas. You will obtain patient specimens, perform tests on blood and body fluids, and report results according to established policies and procedures.

The role may include supervision of the laboratory upon request by the Laboratory Manager. Minimum education includes a BS in Medical Technology or an AS/MLT, with certification by ASCP, NCA, AMT or state DOH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or AS/MLT degree or equivalent.
• Certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT or state DOH MT/MLT certification required.
• Clinical rotation or experience preferred; entry candidates considered for pending graduates.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process patient specimens.
• Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, and related samples.
• Report test results following policies and procedures.
• Oversee laboratory operations and supervision as directed by Laboratory Manager.

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, obtains patient specimens, performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, feces, and reports test results according to prescribed laboratory policies and procedures. Responsible for the supervision and operation of the laboratory if so requested by the laboratory manager and performs any other task necessary to maintain the proper functioning of the department and the hospital.

Education:

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent education/clinical work experience.

Experience:

Minimum Experience: Previous experience as a medical technologist/technician preferred. Clinical rotation experience will be considered for students who have pending graduation date.

Certifications:

Required Certification: Certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT or certification accepted by the STATE DOH as an MT/MLT required.
