Job summary

Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ is seeking a variable-shift, full-time Core Lab Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS). You will perform routine and special laboratory testing with QC and maintenance responsibilities while supporting quality assurance and education.

The role requires a MT/CLS degree and ASCP certification, withexperience in a clinical lab. This position offers a dynamic, team-focused environment in a modern facility that values growth, patient care, and professional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as MLS/MLT/CLS in a clinical lab.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and proficiency testing as assigned.
• Contribute to laboratory education and new employee training.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements :

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• ASCP or equivalent.
  • Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
• If the certification does lapse, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
