Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ, seeks a Blood Bank MLS Supervisor for day shift. The role leads the laboratory department, oversees staff, and ensures quality and regulatory compliance in high‑complexity testing for the Blood Bank.

The MLS Supervisor will demonstrate leadership, knowledge of shift operations, and strong customer service skills to support patient care and teamwork in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science.
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years of experience in a high‑complexity clinical laboratory.
• ASCP or equivalent certification maintained without lapse during employment.
• Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
• 1+ years’ experience with high‑complexity testing if indicated (required for Blood Bank).
• Leadership experience managing people.
• Knowledge of department shift operations.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Problem-solving and conflict resolution.

• Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128‑bed, full‑service, acute‑care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state‑of‑the‑art maternity center, a women’s imaging center, and an ICU.

Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor (MLS Supervisor) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading a laboratory department, with direct oversight of staff who perform clinical laboratory testing specific to that laboratory department.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science.
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years of experience in a high‐complexity clinical laboratory.
• ASCP or equivalent. Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
• If certification does lapse, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non‑certified) or Medical Laboratory Technician (non‑certified) until certification is reinstated.
• Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
• Clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory.
• 1+ years’ experience with high‑complexity testing if indicated (required for Blood Bank).
• Overall knowledge of lab operations including quality control, safety, and problem solving.
• Shows evidence of leadership skills managing people.
• Knowledge of department shift operations.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Problem‑solving and conflict resolution.

Preferred Job Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.
• Blood Bank Experience.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
