Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist IV for a 3+ month assignment at 1700 Medical Center Pkwy, Murfreesboro, TN. Shift 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM; location on-site.

You will perform routine and complex tests, monitor instruments, ensure quality control, and report results. Requires 8-10 years experience, CLIA/State compliance, ASCP/AMT preferred, ability to work independently and in a team, and color vision screening.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or CLIA/State regulatory equivalent.
• 8-10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification may be required or preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of specimens for testing according to criteria.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot lab instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
• Assist with specimen processing when required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsibilities may be interchangeable across Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist, and Clinical Laboratory Scientist roles.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
• Assist with specimen processing when required.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet applicable local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
• 8-10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience required.
• State Medical Technologist license may be required, depending on the assignment.
• ASCP or AMT certification may be preferred or required, depending on the assignment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient computer skills; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screening.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs.
