Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist III for our Core Lab in Nashville, TN. The role involves performing routine and complex laboratory testing, operating instrumentation, and ensuring quality results. Strong independence and teamwork are required to support patient care.

The candidate will handle instrument troubleshooting, QA procedures, and reagent evaluation while collaborating with the lab team on testing priorities and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field.
• 5-7 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• State Medical Technologist license may be required, depending on position.
• ASCP or AMT certification may be preferred or required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with computers; familiarity with LIS is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a color vision screening.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts.

Responsibilities

• Determine specimen acceptability according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Monitor and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
• Assist with specimen processing when required.
• Maintain a safe work environment and use PPE.
• Work independently while collaborating with the laboratory team.
