Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist for a 3rd shift in a hospital laboratory in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The role is interchangeably titled MLS/MLS/CLS with responsibilities across the testing lifecycle.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 8–10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience, and applicable licensure or certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, CLS, Medical Technology or equivalent per regulatory, CLIA and state requirements.
• 8–10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• State Tech license may be required; will be specified in job requirements.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required; will be specified in job requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient with computers; LIS familiarity a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
• Overtime or alternate shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Determine specimen acceptability for testing according to SOPs.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
• Assist with specimen processing when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE.

Work Environment

3rd shift: 730pm-6am Medical lab in Hospital

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities are interchangeable within the job titles of Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Work environment and department assignments will be specified in the job requirements.

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with specimen processing when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory, CLIA, and state requirements.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience required.
• State Medical Technologist license may be required and will be specified in the job requirements if applicable.
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred or required and will be specified in the job requirements if applicable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.
• High level of attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screening.
• Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.

Work Environment

• Clinical laboratory setting.
• Requires adherence to laboratory safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
• May require standing for extended periods and handling laboratory specimens and equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Murfreesboro, TN.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.95 - $50.95/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
