Qualifications

  • 1 year of clinical lab experience, preferably in Chemistry.
  • Required certifications: MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or C (ASCP).

Job Description

The Medical Lab Scientist II will be responsible for testing assigned specimens on the Day Shift from Tuesday to Saturday. This role involves testing and troubleshooting using various instruments and procedures within the department. The position also supports quality control, complex problem-solving, customer support, instrument and equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform and report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring quality control requirements are met.
  2. Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
  3. Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time of results, including STATS or critical results.
  4. Ensure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and if applicable, opened dates.
  5. Perform and document QC analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function.
  6. Make quality control decisions regarding the disposition of an assay or test.
  7. Escalate problems associated with test procedures appropriately.
  8. Report any deviations from testing procedures and cooperate fully with investigations.
  9. Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reports for physician review and interpretation.
  10. Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety requirements.
  11. Use PPE, engineering controls, and work practice controls as directed.
  12. Answer questions from clients or lab personnel.
  13. Participate in government or regulatory inspections.
Essential Skills
  • MLS (ASCP) or MT (ASCP) or C (ASCP) certification (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Sciences, preferably Chemistry or Medical Lab Science.
  • 1 year of clinical lab experience, preferably in Chemistry or as a generalist.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Chemistry, Laboratory, Clinical Laboratory, and CLIA.
Work Environment

The position is in a busy clinical lab environment in Cleveland, OH, with a weekend differential of 10%. Benefits include medical/dental/vision coverage from Day 1, PTO, holidays, bonuses, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and career advancement opportunities.

Pay and Benefits

The salary range is $68,640 - $79,040 per year.
