The role you’ll contribute:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs various laboratory procedures in assigned areas as licensed/certified, involving analytical testing of blood and human biological specimens. The role requires a moderate to high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge in licensed areas. Duties include pre- and post-analytical work, following laboratory policies, maintaining quality control, and participating in customer service and team collaboration. On-call hours may be required.

• Perform pre-analytical activities such as equipment maintenance, inventory control, specimen collection, and cleaning
• Conduct tests and analytical procedures accurately, adhering to standards and participating in proficiency testing
• Report results promptly and provide guidance on testing elements for all age groups
• Provide orientation and training to new employees and students, acting as a preceptor when needed
• Guide technicians and support staff, resolve customer service issues, and support clinical staff
• Follow safety policies including PPE use, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling
• Participate in laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities
• Assist in evaluating new techniques and procedures, and contribute to data collection and reporting
• Assess competencies according to CLIA regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, biological sciences, or related field
• PREFERRED: Two years of technical experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• American Medical Technologists OR American Society for Clinical Pathology
