Job summary

Piedmont Walton Hospital is seeking a laboratory technologist to independently perform procedures and tests across patient ages with accuracy and timeliness. You will apply competency in laboratory procedures and contribute to reliable results that support patient outcomes.

Qualifications include HS diploma or GED, a Bachelor's in clinical/life sciences preferred, and professional certification by ASCP/AMT/AAB per Georgia requirements.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED plus clinical training to satisfy testing/certification requirements.
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or biology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures and testing for patients of all ages, using trained competency to deliver accurate and timely results.
• Executes, interprets and analyzes laboratory procedures to support patient care.

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required or
• A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• AAB provisional certification not accepted
