Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital seeks a certified Medical Technologist to perform laboratory testing across age groups with independence and accuracy. The role requires demonstrated competency in procedures and timely results.

Qualified candidates hold ASCP/AMT/AAB MT/MLS certification per Georgia regs, GED or high school diploma with clinical training, and may require licensure within the state. This on-site position offers benefits and team support.

Qualifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT or AAB according to Georgia regulations.
• Temporary licensure allowances for recent movers to Georgia for up to 18 months to complete required exam.
• AAB provisional certification not accepted.

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required or
• A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• AAB provisional certification not accepted
