Job summary

ChristianaCare's Molecular Medical Laboratory located on the Newark campus is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist with experience in Molecular Diagnostics to perform genetic testing and aid in diagnosis and treatment. The role requires a BS in a relevant field and ASCP eligibility, with MS preferred.

We have a day shift—Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm—with occasional weekend work and holidays. The organization offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities within a top U.S.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science required or BS in Biology or Biochemistry with 1-2 years of Molecular techniques such as PCR or sequencing.
• MS preferred.
• ASCP eligible or equivalent.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures.
• Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy.
• Skill in the use of automated laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs all test procedures accurately as listed in the Molecular Diagnostic procedure manual.
• Verifies specimen identification, processes order, adheres to turnaround times, documents calls, and verifies critical values.
• Follows established quality control procedures, documenting corrective action as necessary.
• Performs and records all scheduled instrument preventive maintenance procedures and basic troubleshooting.
• Follows all laboratory safety policies and reviews safety manual annually.
• Cooperates with supervisors and co-workers, maintains a professional appearance, and answers the phone courteously.

Education

BS in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science

BS in Biology or Biochemistry with 1-2 years molecular experience

MS preferred
