Job summary

Vitalant is hiring Medical Laboratory Scientists to provide skilled technical support in high complexity testing laboratories. The role is designed for varying experience levels, with a focus on compliant, mission-driven work in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, medical technology or clinical laboratory science required or equivalent education, training.
• ASCP Certification preferred; state licensure as required by CA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform production, processing, and labeling of blood components and blood donations.
• Review and report test results, participate in quality control, preventive maintenance, and validations.
• Receive coaching and support from managers invested in career and success.

Salary Range: 45.00 - 48.00 DOE
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 3:00 or 4:00 am alternating start time.

Job Description:

What to Expect

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday with an alternating 3:00 am or 4:00 am start time

Pay Rate: 45.00 - 48.00 per hour DOE

Weekend Shift Differential: 8%

As a Med Lab Scientist, you’ll get to

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in approved Science (Biology, Chemistry, etc) and currently possess certification from an accredited agency (ASCP)
• State licensure as required by CA regulations

Experience

• 0-2 years of relevant laboratory experience meeting Medical Laboratory Scientist
• or
• 5 years or more experience as Medical Laboratory Technician

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, medical technology or clinical laboratory science required or equivalent education, training.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

California State licensure required

ASCP Certification Preferred

EXPERIENCE

1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience meeting Medical Laboratory Scientist/educational requirements OR 5 years or more experience for the Medical Laboratory Technician.
