Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist / MLS for the Blood Bank in a full-time day shift. The position requires a baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or MLS, with transcripts submitted at application. ASCP/MLS certification preferred.

Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. The department offers full benefits and opportunities for growth within Trinity Health.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science is required.
• Transcript proof must be submitted at time of application.
• Experience in a medical laboratory is required if MLS/MT degree is not obtained.

Responsibilities

• Record and/or enter laboratory test results in the LIS and alert supervisor of unusual or highly abnormal results.
• Report stat and highly abnormal results promptly according to policy.
• Compare current test results with prior patient results when indicated.

Experience

• Relevant work experience in a medical laboratory is required if MLS/MT degree is not obtained.

Certification/Licensure

• Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – ASCP, or NCLS certification preferred.

What you will do:

• Records and/or enters laboratory computer results of tests performed and advises supervisor spurious, unusual or highly abnormal results before release of results for reporting.
• Reports results of tests ordered stat and highly abnormal or unexpected results in a timely manner and according to established policies and procedures.
• Compares test results with previous patient test results when indicate
