Job summary

MaineHealth's NorDx Laboratory is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant II to support core pre-analytical functions, including specimen collection phlebotomy, processing, order entry, and specialty collection. The role interacts across patient settings and supports waived testing and quality control.

Qualified candidates typically have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of phlebotomy/specimen management experience; ASCP/AMT/NHA MLA credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • License/Certifications: PBT/MLA from the ASCP, AMT, or NHA preferred. Valid Driver's License may be required if role involves travel to other work sites/locations.
  • Experience: One year of experience in Phlebotomy and Specimen Management required.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements: May be asked to work at other sites/locations as needed.

Summary:

Experienced, qualified applicants are eligible for a $5,000 Sign-on Bonus.This bonus will be prorated forPart Timeor Per Diem positions.Please note this bonus is not available to current MaineHealth employees or prior employees that have been separated for less than 6 months.

The Medical Laboratory Assistant II role represents the organization in all patient settings serving as a liaison and performs key pre-analytical functions, such as specimen collection phlebotomy, specimen processing, specialty testing, order entry, waived testing, quality control, and specialty collection.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: PBT/MLA from the ASCP, AMT, or NHA preferred. Valid Driver's License may be required if role involves travel to other work sites/locations.
  3. Experience: One year of experience in Phlebotomy and Specimen Management required.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: May be asked to work at other sites/locations as needed.

The pay range for this position is $20.27to $24.36 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
