Job summary

Methodist Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant (General Laboratory) for full-time work with rotating weekends and holidays. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree or courses in hard sciences preferred.
• Basic computer skills, medical terminology, and phlebotomy skills preferred.
• Certification by NCA, ASCP or comparable is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs preparatory functions for routine and high complexity tests.
• Includes centrifuging, preparing specimens, archiving, and smears.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; monitors reports.
• Performs phlebotomy if competent and communicates critical results.
• Maintains safe, confidential handling of patient information.
