Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Background in medical terminology preferred.
• Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Excellent communication skills; mathematical, verbal, and computer skills at college level preferred; excellent customer relationship skills.
• Must be able to problem solve
• Ability to establish work priorities and to multi-task for maximum efficiency.
• Must be able to retain information once learned
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to follow as series of steps without confusion or error on an on-going basis. Must be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Greets public in a professional and cheerful manner at all times.
• Answers phone and direct calls appropriately.
• Complete patient registration and test order computer data entry as required by established standards and procedures.
• Keeps files accurately and orderly.
• Reviews and verifies a random selection of OP requisitions for accuracy.
• Creates and reviews pending logs and finds missing specimens accordingly.
• Process all laboratory specimens to include centrifuging, separating, measuring, storing and distributing to appropriate testing areas.
• Identify and resolve routine specimen acceptability and test order problems.
• Notifies Phlebotomy if recollects are needed.
