Job summary

Summa Health System is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for Barberton Campus. This 32-hour per week position on the 3rd shift involves performing routine lab tests, preparing samples, and handling clerical tasks.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma and six months of clerical experience; healthcare experience is preferred. The role requires interaction with patients, ability to work in biohazardous areas, and effective communication of test results to physicians and nursing units.

Qualifications

• Formal Education Required: High School Diploma.
• Experience and Training Required: Six (6) months experience with clerical tasks.
• Prior experience in healthcare preferred.
• Must interact with patients/customers with dignity.
• Work in bio-hazardous areas where exposure to contamination may occur.
• Maintain confidentiality of test results.
• Near visual acuity and manual dexterity for microscopes.
• Ability to communicate test results to physicians and nursing units.
• Ability to move between lab sections and nursing units.
• Computer skills to operate department applications.
• Demonstrate customer service as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Performs a limited number of routine laboratory tests and initial sample preparation.
• Collects specimens and distributes samples to work areas.
• Performs clerical functions.
