Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a Lab Assistant to provide essential support to the laboratory and multiple functions, including ordering/receiving tests in the LIS, specimen transport, pre-analytic/analytic tasks, and phlebotomy. This is an onsite role at Akron, OH.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; biology/chemistry knowledge preferred.
• Graduate of approved medical assistant, EMT or phlebotomy program preferred.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review orders and prepare tests in LIS.
• Obtain, receive, and process specimens.
• Perform pre-analytic and analytic tasks.
• Phlebotomy duties as needed.
• Handle and process glassware and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Transport specimens between departments.
