POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Lab Assistant is responsible for performance of phlebotomy, laboratory clerical work, and selected laboratory procedures. Responsibilities include order entry, patient preparation, specimen collection, and blood drawing using standardized phlebotomy procedures. Additionally, the incumbent processes specimens and performs basic waived lab testing. The Medical Lab Assistant works under the general guidance, direction, and supervision of the Medical Laboratory Services Manager and/or the Chief Medical Technologist. Daily operational guidance and direction may be received from the Lead Medical Technologist.
