The role of Medical Insurance Follow-Up Representative is an essential position within the healthcare revenue cycle management field. As a Medical Insurance Follow-Up Representative, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely resolution of outstanding accounts receivable, insurance claim denials, and aged accounts for both hospital and physician billing. This full-time opportunity allows you to work remotely, providing flexibility and a positive work-life balance, while contributing to the financial health of healthcare organizations.
Medical Insurance Follow-Up Representatives play a critical part in the back-end process of medical billing, focusing on the resolution of denied, underpaid, and unresolved insurance claims. By working closely with commercial and government payers, these professionals make a significant impact on a healthcare provider’s ability to maintain a steady cash flow and ensure patients’ claims are handled efficiently. The position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of revenue cycle management processes and insurance guidelines.
In this capacity, you will collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external insurance payers. Your expertise in claim forms, such as UB-04 and HCFA 1500, will be essential as you review and resolve billing discrepancies, eligibility issues, coding questions, and reimbursement variances. The ability to identify payer trends and workflow issues will allow you to recommend solutions that enhance the overall billing and collections process.
If you are experienced in healthcare revenue cycle roles, comfortable working with multiple billing systems like Epic, Cerner, Meditech, McKesson, Allscripts, or Soarian, and possess strong multitasking abilities, your skills will be highly valued in this position. You will also benefit from a supportive team environment with opportunities for ongoing professional growth and career advancement.
