Medical Insurance Customer Service Advisor

This position is responsible for calling new patients to explain the billing process, proactively reaching out to patients when meaningful billing changes are implemented, administering the Financial Assistance Program (FAP), and responding to inbound patient billing calls.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED is required; some college preferred, especially with experience in collections, verification, or analysis; customer service call center experience or equivalent is also preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Communicate with new patients regarding billing procedures
  2. Proactively inform patients of billing policy changes
  3. Address patient concerns during calls or escalate to management if necessary
  4. Follow up with patients as needed; recognize and resolve issues promptly; escalate when needed
  5. Serve as a primary contact for patients regarding financial assistance, statements, insurance changes, and charges
  6. Manage and communicate all aspects of the FAP to relevant departments
  7. Update patient information in the database as requested
  8. Input data into the company's platform to keep records current
  9. Share knowledge with team members and work collaboratively
  10. Interact positively, respectfully, and considerately with others
  11. Respect patient rights and confidentiality
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Prompt and professional telephone communication
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems independently
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to quickly learn Lynx and CPR+
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications
