Job summary

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Radiology Technologist to join our imaging team. You will perform radiographic procedures and assist Radiologists while maintaining records.

You will interview patients, operate C-Arms and portable x-ray units, and ensure safety for patients and staff. Required ARRT RT(R) licensure and BLS; 2 years radiology experience preferred. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

  • Must hold or obtain current licensure as RT(R) with ARRT or equivalent. Must hold or obtain current BLS.
  • Previous radiology experience preferred; 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews the patient prior to testing and analyzes size, condition, age and history to apply procedures.
  • Sets and controls radiographic equipment to apply ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic exams.
  • Operates portable machines on patient floors, ED, units, OR; operates C-Arms in surgical settings.
  • Assesses technical quality of radiographs and performs repeats as needed.
  • Protects patients and staff following safety standards.
  • Performs tasks such as stocking rooms, preparing equipment, assisting other techs, accessing images and reading reports to physicians.
  • Documents patient information for exam interpretation and care.
  • Assists Radiologist with administration of contrast materials and meds.
  • Answers questions from staff and public on procedures and safety.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency across neonate to geriatric groups.

The purpose of this job is to perform radiographic procedures on a variety of radiographic equipment. Assists Radiologists and maintains filing records and paper work. Interviews the patient prior to testing and analyzes the patient’s general body size, physical condition, age and medical history to accurately apply radiographic procedures; improvises positions and techniques accordingly.2. Sets, adjusts and controls a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations. Operates portable machines on patient floors, emergency department, and units; and in the operating room. Operates C-Arms in surgical environment.3. Assesses technical quality of radiographs before giving such to the Radiologist; performs repeats as necessary.4. Provides protection to patients and fellow employees in accordance with national, state and departmental safety standards.5. Performs other activities such as taking call, keeping rooms stocked with supplies, preparing equipment for use, assisting other techs with patient exams, accessing images, , reading reports to physicians over the phone, advising patients regarding availability of results.6. Documents appropriate patient information necessary for exam interpretation and patient care.7. Assists the Radiologist in the administration of contrast materials and medications.8. Answers questions and provides information to center customers, including nursing staff, physicians, and the general public on radiographic procedures, radiographic anatomy and radiation safety practices.9. Maintains flexibility as department grows with a willingness to accept additional responsibilities requested by department director.10.
