Job Summary

The Medical Imaging Clerk acts as radiologic technologist assistant to patients and physicians coming into the department. Relieves the radiologic technologists of such clerical duties as, preparing paperwork, directing phone calls, filing, coordination of work flow and assisting technologists as needed. Participates in performance improvement activities.

Essential Job Duties

• Performs a wide variety of typing assignments including requisitions, forms, etc.
• Ability to operate a computer order entry system.
• Maintain a record keeping and filing system of reports and requisitions according to departmental policies. Classifies, sorts and files correspondence, records and other documents accordingly. Purges files in accordance with policy.
• Have knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
• Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
• Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Maintains a daily patient schedule.
• Makes discs for patients and sends images to other facilities
• Assigns the proper patient consent form if an injectable study is to be performed.
• Transports patients to and from the Imaging Service Department.
• Helps maintain and assist cleaning the department.
• Log patient images both in and out of the Imaging Department accurately.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS — Education, Experience, & Licensure

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.
• BLS, required.
• De-escalation is required within one year of the start date.

Previous Healthcare Experience, Strongly Preferred.

• Must have typing, computer and related skills.
• Must have the ability to carry on many functions in an organized manner at the same time, i.e., answer phones, create necessary paperwork.
• Must be able to understand written and oral instructions pertaining to scheduling and physician requests.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

Additional Languages Preferred.

• Basic computer knowledge.
