Job SummaryProvides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physician/manager/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic cardiac rhythms and identifies dysrhythmias.
• Evaluates patients identifying those at risk for falls and implements the appropriate protocols
• Exhibits appropriate use of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of the following disease entities: COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, anticoagulation therapy, total knee/hip replacement, cholecystectomy, CHF, UTI, MRSA infections, Detox, cancer, pain management
• Participates in Medical/ Surgical performance improvement activities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of standards for restraints and seclusion, i.e. Restraint and Seclusion protocol, physician orders, documentation and reporting, and patient rights and teaching.
• Knowledgeable of Infection Control, TB, Blood borne Pathogens and Hazardous waste plans.
