POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Receptionist is responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate staff, greeting and checking in/out patients, managing paperwork, scanning insurance cards, entering demographic information into the electronic health record (EHR), processing referrals, and collaborating closely with physicians and staff.

OPEN POSITION LOCATION: Fayetteville, NC

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Greet and direct all patients within the practice.
  2. Obtain patient demographic and insurance information at each visit.
  3. Gather necessary information to meet Federal and Meaningful Use guidelines for EHR.
  4. Scan pertinent patient information into EHR, including authorizations and recent labs.
  5. Obtain patient authorization for medical record releases (HIPAA compliance).
  6. Schedule necessary follow-up appointments.
  7. Monitor and review patient schedules for upcoming appointments.
  8. Address minor patient billing complaints.
  9. Assist in ordering, receiving, and stocking office supplies.
  10. Maintain cleanliness of the waiting area.
  11. Support other reception staff as needed.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant experience or training.
  • EMR experience preferred.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; keyboarding proficiency required.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Ability to collaborate with administration and staff.
