Medical Equipment Technician

Medical Equipment Technicians are responsible for ensuring safe delivery, providing setup, and educating customers on the usage of home medical equipment. Setup occurs in various settings including patients’ homes, long-term care facilities, clinics, or other locations necessary to service patients.

Job Duties

• Develop and maintain knowledge of current HME products and services, along with applicable regulations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Educate customers on proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment.
• Complete documentation following equipment setup, delivery, or pickup.
• Assist with customer equipment problems, including emergency situations.
• Process orders accurately and timely.
• Promote services and products to community referral sources.
• Develop reimbursement knowledge and document necessary information for billing.
• Implement quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain home oxygen systems through scheduled visits.
• Drive and maintain company vehicle safely.
• Perform patient assessments and routine equipment maintenance.
• Report hazards and incidents as per policies.
• Adhere to PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Complete required training and educational programs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level sales, customer service experience.
• Related experience (military, delivery with sales, healthcare technician) preferred.
• Senior level: 2 years of related experience and 1 year of specific job experience.
• Valid driver’s license in your state.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and crouching.
• Long periods of sitting and driving.
• Potential exposure to unsanitary conditions, hazardous materials, noise, extreme temperatures, and infectious agents.
• Must be able to travel independently and access patient residences without assistance.
