Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units. This includes STERIS' main line of OEM equipment (Washers, Sterilizers, Ultrasonic Cleaners, Steam Generators, Cart Washers), which is our largest equipment portfolio and the foundation of our company. Join us to advance your career in this role!

Candidates with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based in Massachusetts.

What you'll do as an Equipment Service Technician:
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
  • Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs independently to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues and utilize advanced technology platforms for compliance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities within your territory.
  • Support various locations within your territory based on service agreements and customer needs.
Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical or technical role. An associate degree, technical certifications, or related military experience may substitute for some experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet all background and physical assessment requirements for vendor credentialing.
  • Customer service and team engagement experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps, data entry).
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including overnights and early/late hours, as needed.
  • Ability to meet hospital/customer credentialing requirements.

We value our employees and offer a comprehensive benefits package supporting health, well-being, and financial security. Highlights include:

  • Base salary plus incentive compensation
  • Company-provided vehicle, cell phone, and laptop
  • Hands-on training program
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Healthcare, dental, and vision benefits
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Parental leave
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Additional benefits and discounts
  • Promotion opportunities after 18 months

Pay range: $53,000.00 - $74,287.50, plus potential commission. Pay rates comply with local minimums and are based on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
