Job summary

Kaleida Health’s Buffalo General Medical Center is seeking a Medical Equipment Processing Technician to maintain decontamination, inspection, and verification of small medical equipment including IV and PCA pumps, SCD pumps, epidural pumps, and wound vac devices. Responsibilities include ensuring PAR levels and proper routing of faulty equipment to BMET, all on the Patient Care floors.

Required are a High School Diploma or GED (Associate of Applied Science preferred) and about 1 year of hospital

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate of Applied Science preferred.
• 1 year of experience in Hospital or Nursing Home environment working with Universal Precautions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain decontamination, visual inspection, and operational verification of small medical equipment (e.g., IV pumps, PCA pumps, SCD pumps, Epidural pumps, Wound Vac).
• Ensure PAR levels on Patient Care floors and route any equipment with issues to BMET for repair or PM inspection.
• Ensure equipment tagged as faulty or overdue for PM is not returned to service until repaired or inspected.

Job Description

The Medical Equipment Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards for decontamination, visual inspection, and operational verification of small medical equipment to include IV Pumps, PCA Pumps, SCD Pumps, Epidural Pumps, and Wound Vac. Additionally they will assure proper PAR levels of these devices on the Patient Care floors (as allowed by census, and device availability). They will assure all equipment that is tagged as having an issue, is overdue for a PM inspection, or fails a visual or operational verification is not returned to service but is sent to an appropriate Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) for repair and or PM Inspection.

Education And Credentials

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate of Applied Science preferred.

Experience

1 year of experience in Hospital or Nursing Home environment working with Universal Precautions preferred.
