Job summary

Georgetown University School of Medicine's GEMS program seeks a Basic Science Learning Facilitator to lead instruction across biomedical science modules for approximately 25 students annually, designing and evaluating the curriculum to align with allopathic medical education.

The role includes extensive academic coaching, development of learning plans, mentoring coordination, and transitional support for first-year medical students, reporting to the Program Director; on-campus, Jesuit-values

Qualifications

Four years of teaching in a health-professions curriculum (two years with an MD).
Four years of advising in higher education focused on academic-skills and learning strategies.
Two years of direct instruction experience with graduate/professional students.
Two years of experience with anatomical dissection of a human cadaver.
Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical methods for allopathic medical education.

Responsibilities

Deliver instruction across GEMS biomedical science modules and courses for an annual cohort of ~25 students.
Design, implement, and evaluate the GEMS curriculum aligned with the allopathic medical curriculum.
Provide individualized and group academic coaching and learning-strategies support to students.
Develop, document, and monitor learning plans; intervene early as needed.
Coordinate the GEMS mentoring program and support first-year medical students adjusting to medical school.
