Job summary

PetVet Care Centers in Grass Valley, California, seeks a Medical Director to lead the Grass Valley Veterinary Hospital, mentor veterinarians, and ensure regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality patient care.

The MD also shares financial leadership with the hospital team, supports staff, and practices as a staff veterinarian alongside administrative duties, fostering a Culture of Care across the network.

Qualifications

• DVM from an accredited college or university.
• Current State Veterinary License.
• DEA registration must be obtained and maintained.
• 3–5+ years of experience in veterinary practice.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent surgical and dental skills.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
• Effective communication with all hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintains high quality of progressive veterinary care.
• Oversees medical standards and quality of care.
• Sets policies for medical practice and team collaboration.
• Recommends inventory additions and budgets for equipment.
• Holds patient care responsibilities and reviews records for accuracy.
• Manages controlled drugs and drug supply requests.
• Conducts regular doctor meetings and coaching.
• Leads candidate interviews and supports staff development.
• Identifies new service opportunities and ensures hospital revenue goals.
