Job summary

Meadow Vista Veterinary Clinic in Meadow Vista, California, part of PetVet Care Centers, seeks a compassionate Medical Director to lead high-quality veterinary care with a dedicated team.

The successful candidate will set medical standards, mentor veterinarians and staff, manage budgets and supplies, and collaborate with the Hospital Manager and Regional Director to grow the practice while ensuring exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university.
• Current State Veterinary License is required.
• DEA registration must be obtained and maintained.
• 3-5+ years of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent surgical and dental skills.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.
• Excellent communication with all members of the Medical and Hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintains high quality of progressive veterinary care and sets medical standards.
• Oversees and directs medical policies and practice of medicine.
• Works with leadership to ensure services function as a cohesive team.
• Recommends hospital inventory additions and budgets for equipment.
• Manages patient care, documentation, and compliance with standards.
• Ensures clear client communication and proper transfer of patient care responsibilities.
• Reviews patient records to promote medical excellence and accuracy.
• Oversees controlled substances handling and therapy alternatives.
• Leads regular doctor meetings and mentors staff veterinarians.
• Identifies new service opportunities and monitors KPIs with the Hospital Manager.
