Summary

This is an open continuous announcement. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis, and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive is authorized for highly qualified candidates.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship; non-citizens only when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved school.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
• Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Approvals include ACGME, AOA, or equivalent experience.
• Residents enrolled in accredited programs may be appointed as 'Physician Resident Providers' (PRPs), with specific scope and supervision conditions.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

• Experience in disaster medicine, wilderness medicine, or medical deployments.
• Training in critical care medicine is favored.
• ATLS certifications are highly preferred; BLS/ACLS recommended.
• At least 3 years of primary care experience; prior hospital emergency or trauma experience.
• Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
