Job summary

The VA Minneapolis Health Care System seeks an experienced, mission-driven physician to serve as Medical Director for its network of 13 Community Based Outpatient Clinics spanning Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This leadership role shapes primary care delivery for about 50,000 Veterans across a large, geographically diverse region.

You will lead clinical operations, staffing, and quality across all CBOC sites, partnering with service lines, clinic directors, nursing leadership, and admin staff

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required or non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited
• MD or equivalent degree in allopathic/osteopathic medicine
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States
• Residency training approved by the VA for eligibility for board certification
• Board certification or eligibility considerations for VA faculty and training programs

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level oversight of clinical operations, staffing, and quality across all CBOC sites
• Recruit, hire, supervise, and develop CBOC clinic medical directors and providers
• Monitor and drive performance on quality, access, and patient satisfaction measures
• Collaborate with clinic directors on corrective actions, disciplinary matters, and policy development
• Travel periodically to CBOC sites to provide on-site oversight and direct patient care
