Program and Job Description:

The Bureau of Communicable Disease (BCD), part of the Division of Disease Control, oversees the surveillance, prevention, and control of over 70 infectious diseases, including foodborne, waterborne, respiratory (COVID-19), zoonotic, and vectorborne diseases.

We seek a Medical Director to lead units including provider outreach, community engagement, and antibiotic resistance prevention.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Advising on infectious disease operations, including antibiotic stewardship, infection control, and surveillance
  • Overseeing COVID testing and vaccination teams
  • Managing provider and community engagement activities
  • Participating in senior meetings and policy discussions
  • Contributing to research and publications
  • Serving as Physician on Call for infectious disease issues
  • Supporting grant writing and emergency response leadership

CITY MEDICAL SPECIALIST - 53039

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid New York medical license and one of the following:

  • Board certification in a relevant specialty, or
  • Application in process for certification
Additional experience requirements vary by assignment level, including practice in the specialty, epidemiology, or infectious diseases, with specific educational qualifications.

Preferred Skills: Expertise in infectious diseases, public health surveillance, outbreak response, strong communication, leadership, and grant writing skills.

Residency in NYC is not required.
