Job description

Premium Care EMS is seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Director to oversee and guide the clinical practices of our private ambulance services. The Medical Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Pennsylvania EMS regulations, enhancing the quality of care, and providing medical leadership to our EMS personnel. The role will include focused supervision and oversight of services provided under Basic Life Support (BLS) guidelines, ensuring that all patient care aligns with the highest standards of pre-hospital emergency care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide clinical oversight and direction for all EMS activities in compliance with PA Code Title 28 Chapter 1027, with a specific focus on Basic Life Support (BLS) level of care.

Develop, review, and approve medical protocols, policies, and standard operating procedures consistent with BLS standards.

Ensure that EMS staff operate within their scope of practice and maintain competency in BLS procedures.

Assist with onboarding and credentialing of EMS personnel, including training and evaluation of BLS clinical performance.

Review patient care reports and participate in quality assurance/improvement programs.

Serve as a liaison between the EMS agency and hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers.

Participate in incident reviews, audits, and investigations of clinical care concerns, especially those related to BLS interventions.

Approve the use of medical equipment, supplies, and medications appropriate for BLS services.

Ensure proper medication storage, accountability, and administration practices as related to BLS protocols.

Attend mandatory meetings, provide medical input on operational planning, and support community outreach and education efforts.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Must have completed a residency in Emergency Medicine.

Board certification in Emergency Medicine is preferred.

Must meet all requirements outlined in PA Code § 1023.1 and 1027.3.

Strong understanding of Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols and EMS operations.

Prior experience in EMS or pre-hospital emergency care is highly desirable.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders.

Compensation:

Competitive stipend or hourly rate based on experience and scope of engagement.

Flexible hours; estimated 10–15 hours/month with availability for consultation and quality reviews as needed.
